Let the film take the scratch and the spray paint
A clear sacrificial layer that gets replaced instead of the glass.
NorthGuard installs Madico Graffiti Free in its thinner single-ply build on glass that gets tagged, scratched or etched in Toronto and the GTA. The clear sacrificial film takes the damage, so the film is replaced and the pane stays.

The vandalism problem Graffiti Free 4mil answers
Madico Graffiti Free 4mil is for glass that gets scratched, etched or tagged. Storefronts, transit glass, restrooms and elevator cabs pick up scratches, spray paint and acid etching. Scratched or etched glass usually means replacing the pane. A layer that can be stripped and renewed moves the damage off the glass.
How Graffiti Free 4mil takes the damage instead of the glass
Graffiti Free 4mil is a sacrificial barrier: a clear single-ply film, 0.004 in thick, that takes scratches, spray paint and etching so the glass underneath stays intact. Madico lists 89% visible light transmitted and 99% or more UV rejection. Break strength is 100 lbs per inch of width.
Where Graffiti Free 4mil fits best
NorthGuard suggests Madico Graffiti Free 4mil for jobs like these.
- Bus shelters and transit glass that get tagged regularly
- Retail storefront windows facing the street
- Public restrooms and school corridors where scratching is the issue
- Elevators, escalators and vending machine glass
What Graffiti Free 4mil will not do
Madico Graffiti Free 4mil has limits that NorthGuard states before any quote.
- The film is sacrificial: it is meant to be removed and replaced once it is damaged, not kept as a permanent finish.
- Glare reduction is 1% and total solar energy rejected is 18%, so this is a protection film, not a solar or tint film.
- Madico's older 4 mil design guide calls for exterior use while its current series page is less specific, so the mounting side is confirmed per window.

Graffiti Free 4mil questions and answers
NorthGuard answers these questions about Madico Graffiti Free 4mil with Madico's published data.
What does Graffiti Free 4mil protect against?
Madico Graffiti Free 4mil protects glass from scratches, spray paint and acid etching by acting as a sacrificial layer. When the film is damaged, it is removed and replaced. The glass underneath is not the part being replaced.
Is Graffiti Free 4mil optically clear?
Madico describes the film as optically clear and lists 89% visible light transmitted with 9% reflected on each side. Glare reduction is only 1%, so the glass is not tinted.
How does the 4mil differ from the 6mil Graffiti Free?
The 4mil film measures 0.004 in with 100 lbs per inch break strength, and the 6mil measures 0.007 in with 150 lbs. Madico's Graffiti Free line lists both sizes. The 4mil is single ply, and the 6mil is a multi-ply laminate.
Can Graffiti Free 4mil hold glass together?
Madico's series page says Graffiti Free retains broken glass fragments. Madico files the line under asset protection, not under its dedicated safety film range, so treat the glass-holding effect as damage control.
