Madico Silver 20 · Dark silver film

A deep silver mirror for the toughest sun

Silver 20 keeps 19% of visible light and returns most of the sun's energy.

20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more, until December 31, 2026.

In short

NorthGuard installs Madico Silver in its darkest shade where heat and glare must come down hard. The surface acts as a strong mirror from both sides, so rooms look dim and lights go on in the daytime.

The heat and glare problem Silver 20 answers

Madico Silver 20 is for glass that lets in more sun, heat or glare than the room can use. Some glass faces a parking lot or a bright wall that throws extra sun back at the building. Staff move their desks, close blinds or turn the air conditioning up. Mild films do not change that.

How Silver 20 cuts heat and glare

Silver 20 reduces glare by 79% and rejects 76% of total solar energy, with a SHGC of 0.24. Visible light passes at 19%. Reflectance is 55% outside and 56% inside, so the surface acts as a strong mirror from both sides.

Where Silver 20 fits best

NorthGuard suggests Madico Silver 20 for jobs like these.

  • Showrooms and shopfronts where daytime see-in is unwelcome.
  • Offices facing hot pavement or reflective neighbouring glass.
  • Rooms where a SHGC of 0.24 is the target and the view matters less.
  • Glass partitions on the sunny side of an open-plan floor.

What Silver 20 will not do

Madico Silver 20 has limits that NorthGuard states before any quote.

  • At 19% visible light, rooms look dim and lights will be on in the daytime.
  • Interior reflectance of 56% can make the room feel like a mirror at night.
  • Madico's sources list this film's infrared rejection inconsistently, so this page leaves that figure out.

Silver 20 questions and answers

NorthGuard answers these questions about Madico Silver 20 with Madico's published data.

Why does this page show no infrared rejection figure for Silver 20?

Madico's web table and its performance sheet give two different infrared rejection numbers for Silver 20, so NorthGuard shows neither. Total solar energy rejected, at 76%, and SHGC, at 0.24, agree across the sources. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.

How dark does Silver 20 look?

Silver 20 passes 19% of visible light, so rooms look clearly tinted. Glare falls by 79%. Madico measured both on single-pane 6 mm clear glass. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.

Will people outside see in through Silver 20?

Madico makes no privacy claim for Silver 20, and the relevant figure is the 55% exterior reflectance. By day that makes the glass hard to see through from the street. With lamps on at night, the effect reverses. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.

What heat figures does Silver 20 have?

Madico lists a shading coefficient of 0.28, a SHGC of 0.24 and a U-factor of 0.88. The light-to-solar-gain ratio is 0.78. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.

What is Silver 20 made of?

Silver 20 is a polyester laminate 0.0015 in (1.5 mil) thick, with a detackified acrylic adhesive and a silver reflective colour. Madico puts UV transmitted at under 1%. The coating is scratch resistant, per the SR in its code. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.
