The heat and glare problem Optivision 25 answers

Madico Optivision 25 is for glass that lets in more sun, heat or glare than the room can use. Glass-fronted rooms facing south or west can run hot even with blinds half down. Glare is constant and furniture near the window fades. Light films barely register in these rooms.

How Optivision 25 cuts heat and glare

Optivision 25 reduces glare by 70% and rejects 60% of total solar energy, while its SHGC drops to 0.40. Infrared rejection reaches 81% across 780 to 2500 nm. Exterior reflectance is 27% and interior reflectance 14%, so the outside face looks visibly reflective.

Where Optivision 25 fits best

NorthGuard suggests Madico Optivision 25 for jobs like these.

  • Conference rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass that overheat during afternoon meetings.
  • Office or retail frontage where 27% exterior reflectance cuts the see-in effect by day.
  • Sunrooms where an SHGC of 0.40 matters more than keeping the room bright.
  • Rooms with large display screens that glare badly from side windows.

What Optivision 25 will not do

Madico Optivision 25 has limits that NorthGuard states before any quote.

  • Only 27% of visible light gets through, so the room looks clearly tinted and lights may go on earlier.
  • The reflective face outdoors is obvious, which some condo boards and building managers dislike.
  • Daytime privacy ends at dusk once indoor lights are on.

Optivision 25 questions and answers

NorthGuard answers these questions about Madico Optivision 25 with Madico's published data.

How much heat does Optivision 25 reject?

Optivision 25 rejects 60% of total solar energy and 81% of infrared energy on single-pane 6 mm clear glass, per Madico. Its SHGC is 0.40. Real comfort in your room still depends on window size, direction and glass type. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.

Can I still see out in the evening with Optivision 25?

Evening views out stay usable because Madico lists interior reflectance at only 14%. Madico describes the Optivision line as built around clearer visibility. The 27% exterior reflectance means the outside face looks reflective by day. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.

Is Optivision 25 used on glass conference rooms and partitions?

Madico's Optivision brochure names glass conference rooms and interior glass partitions among common uses. For a room that overheats, the 70% glare reduction and 0.40 SHGC are the numbers to weigh. Residential and retail glass are on the same list. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.

Does Optivision 25 hold glass if it breaks?

Madico's brochure says the film helps hold broken glass together to limit flying fragments. Treat that as a side benefit, not a security rating. Madico's spec gives no safety glazing pass values for this film, so NorthGuard makes no safety-glazing claim. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.

What does DA SR mean on Optivision 25?

DA SR marks a detackified acrylic adhesive and a scratch-resistant coating on a film 0.0015 in (1.5 mil) thick. Madico lists the colour as a reflective grey tone shade. The film goes on the glass surface as a thin laminate. Current offer: 20% off installs of 100 sq ft or more. Promotion ends December 31, 2026.
